About Economicium
Economicium is a set of free tools for trading and money: position sizing and risk calculators, a net worth and retirement dashboard, a trading journal, an economic calendar, and dashboards built on the public data that moves markets. No account, no paywall, no ads.
Why it exists
I am Joey van Diest, and I built the two largest tools here for myself. I created the personal finance app so I could see exactly where my money was going, because before that I only knew roughly. I built the trading journal for a different reason. There were plenty of good ones, but they all wanted a monthly subscription, and a trading journal is really just a table of your own trades with some calculations on top.
The rest of the site grew out of the same habit. If a calculation was worth doing twice, it was worth writing down properly and leaving somewhere anyone could use it.
What makes the tools different
Every calculator displays the exact formula it applied, and works through a real example so you can confirm the maths yourself. Every data tool names the organisation that originally published the figure, links to it, and shows the date the figure was taken. Occasionally a number is one I calculated myself rather than one an agency published, and when that happens the page says so clearly. The methodology page collects all of it: every source, how often each refreshes, and what these tools cannot see.
What you type stays on your device. The calculators and trackers run in your browser, so nothing you enter reaches me. The single exception is optional Google sign-in, which syncs your trading journal across devices and does nothing unless you switch it on.
Who runs it
I am the only person behind Economicium. I work as a programmer and I live in the Netherlands. For roughly the last six years I have been trading my own money in futures, stocks and crypto. I build every tool here, so it is also on me to make sure they calculate correctly. I am not a licensed financial adviser, I have no clients, and I sell no financial product. More on who I am.
I use AI tools to help with drafting and research. I never publish anything on that basis alone. I verify every figure, formula and data source against the original publication, and I do not cite a source unless I have opened and read it myself. If you find an error anywhere on Economicium, email [email protected] and I will correct it.
Not financial advice
Everything here is for information and education only. Nothing on Economicium is financial, investment, or trading advice, and trading carries risk, including losing more than you put in. Always do your own research.
